Western Young Artist Series 2024 - Anna-Lucia Mena Shevchenko

The Western Young Artist Tour Competition was held in Winnipeg on Friday March 22nd, 2024. The competition was adjudicated by Claudette Caron who is a long-time teacher, adjudicator and performer. Ms. Caron has travelled throughout Canada as an adjudicator and as an RCM examiner. She is an active solo performer and is herself a Western Young Artist winner.

The competitors for this year's competition included Raymond Ding and Anna-Lucia Mena Shevchenko of Winnipeg and Connor Elias from Saskatoon, SK. Exciting performances by these three young pianists encompassed all musical eras and styles. For the competition, the performers, who are required to be under the age of 23 years, each presented a program ranging from 30 to 45 minutes. The winner of the SK/MB competition is then given the honour of performing artist in a concert tour arranged for their region. As well as being an exhilarating opportunity for the Young Artist, these tours give audiences throughout Canada the opportunity to hear the high standard of performance that the Young Artists bring to area communities. Watch for details for the Fall Tour of 2024 tour!

The MRMTA, which hosted this year's competition is pleased to announce this year's winner, Anna-Lucia Mena Shevchenko. Congratulations to Miss Shevchenko and to all competitors for their fine performances.
