Benefits of Membership in the MRMTA
- Directory
A Directory listing all MRMTA members in the province is
printed each year. It is distributed to all the advertisers
noted therein, to the public schools throughout Manitoba and
is available free to the public through the music stores.
Names are also given out by the Registrar when requested
through the Registrar's telephone (204-339-6768).
- Public Liability Insurance
As a member of the MRMTA, you are covered with $5,000,000
General Liability Insurance while teaching out of your home.
- Workshops, Meetings
You will be kept informed through newsletters from the
Provincial Executive of any activities of interest to the general
membership. The executives of the individual Branches (Winnipeg,
Brandon and Southern Manitoba) will keep you informed of their
workshops and meetings.
- CFMTA
Membership in MRMTA includes membership in the Canadian
Federation of Music Teachers' Associations who hold biennial
conventions in rotating centres across Canada.
- Pre-Diploma Group
A subsidiary of the MRMTA for students who are working
towards the completion of their diploma, as well as beginning
a studio of their own.
- Canada Music Week - Music Writing Competition
Young composers can enter the Music Writing Competition
sponsored by CFMTA. Provincial winners compete in the
Canada-wide judging.
- Pianothon/Musicthon
Have your students participate in the annual
Pianothon/Musicthon in co-operation with the Variety Club -
the Children's Charity held at Assiniboine Park Conservatory.
- $7000 Scholarship Competition
Your students can participate in the annual Scholarship
Series Competition sponsored by the Winnipeg Branch of the MRMTA.
- CFMTA Young Artist Series
A concert tour to provide experience for budding young
musicians in the West. For your advanced students (Diploma level).
- CFMTA Scholarship Competition
A scholarship competition is held at the biennial convention
in specific disciplines with a variety of monetary prizes available
to advanced students. Provincial winners are sent to the national
competition.
